Spot Welding Machine for Sheet Metal Steel Doors
Product Overview
ChengDu Xingweihan is a dedicated welding equipment manufacturer in China, focusing on the development and supply of complete resistance welding solutions for sheet metal fabrication. With an engineering R&D team of over 20 specialists and a 20000 sq.m production facility, we deliver professional guidance from process design to commissioning. Our overseas technical service teams operate across Southeast Asia and South America, offering on-site installation and maintenance support for door panel manufacturers and metal enclosure producers.
This XY-axis automatic spot welding machine is engineered for mass production of elevator door panels, security doors, and large sheet metal enclosures. The unit combines a double electrode head for simultaneous dual-point welding with servo-driven X/Y moving fixtures that carry the workpiece through a programmed sequence of weld positions. Rated at 100-250 KVA with a maximum welding capacity of 6.0+6.0 mm, the machine delivers consistent fusion on low-carbon steel, stainless steel, coated sheets, and aluminum alloys, making it a versatile addition to any production line.
Key Technical Advantages
Dual Electrode Head for Two Points Per Cycle
A pair of copper alloy electrodes weld two points simultaneously, cutting cycle time in half for long door panel runs. The design minimizes heat input per weld, reducing distortion and keeping spot spacing consistent across the full workpiece.
Servo-Driven X/Y Positioning System
Precise screw or synchronous-belt motion aligns every weld point with the electrodes automatically. This eliminates manual repositioning errors, shortens operator learning time, and ensures repeatable spot placement on door frames and cabinet shells.
PLC + HMI Digital Control with MES Upload
Welding timing, movement tracks, and pressure curves are fully programmable through the touch screen. Process parameters can be exported to an MES system, allowing plant managers to centralize quality data and adjust recipes for different door models without manual intervention.
Real-Time Weld Quality Monitoring
Optional current, voltage, and electrode displacement sensors record data for every single spot. Spatter detection and alert functions flag abnormal welds immediately, so operators can correct issues before they become scrap parts and trace the history of each panel if required.
Adaptive Thickness Compensation
By reading electrode displacement, the controller automatically fine-tunes current or weld time to accommodate sheet thickness tolerance and laminate gaps. This maintains weld strength even when incoming material varies slightly from batch to batch, reducing rework and rejected doors.
Energy Consumption Statistics for Lean Management
The system logs weld count, power draw, and gas usage per shift, giving production supervisors clear data to optimize line efficiency. This supports lean manufacturing initiatives and helps identify maintenance needs before they cause downtime.
Applications
| Industry | Typical Workpiece | Welding Mode |
|---|---|---|
| Elevator Manufacturing | Elevator door panels, reinforced ribs, sill plates | Double-head spot welding on 0.5-1.5mm sheet |
| Security Door Industry | Anti-theft door frames, fireproof door surfaces, cladding panels | XY-axis multi-point spot welding |
| Electrical Enclosures | Large cabinets, control boxes, switchboard panels | Programmed spot welding on zinc-coated steel |
| Home Appliances | Washing machine shells, refrigerator body panels, range hoods | Low-spatter spot welding on aluminum and pre-painted sheets |
Working Principle
An operator loads the door panel onto the fixture and activates the cycle with both hands. The X/Y fixture mechanism moves the workpiece to the pre-programmed welding position, then the upper electrode descends under pneumatic pressure to clamp the sheet stack. A thyristor-controlled transformer delivers welding current through the copper electrodes, concentrating heat at the contact interface to form a nugget. After the weld completes, the thyristor cuts off, the electrode lifts, and the table advances to the next spot. The system repeats this sequence until all programmed points are finished, then returns the panel to the exchange rack for unloading.

Frequently Asked Questions
What sheet metal thickness can this XY spot welding machine handle?
The machine is designed for plate thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm in its standard door panel configuration. Depending on the model selected, the maximum weldable capacity reaches 6.0+6.0 mm for heavier structural workpieces.
Can the equipment weld galvanized steel without damaging the coating?
Yes. The intermediate frequency control box inverts AC to DC power, which minimizes spatter and reduces heat input. This helps preserve the integrity of the zinc layer around each weld point while maintaining strong nugget formation.
How long does it take to changeover from one door model to another?
The PLC-HMI system stores welding programs for each product. Operators simply select the corresponding recipe on the touch screen, and the X/Y coordinates and welding parameters adjust automatically. Changeover can be completed in a few minutes without mechanical reconfiguration.
Do you provide welding tests before we place an order?
We offer free sample welding and process design services. Our factory can evaluate your workpieces and verify the solution through physical tests to ensure the machine meets your production requirements before dispatch.
Is remote troubleshooting available if our operators encounter issues?
Yes. The equipment is equipped with an Ethernet interface, so our engineers can remotely view machine status and update welding programs. Combined with video technical support, this minimizes downtime and helps your team resolve problems quickly.
